Last week at the Microsoft Cloud Briefing, Scott Guthrie joined CEO Satya Nadella onstage to announce how Microsoft is offering the industry’s most complete cloud. As part of this, Guthrie announced the Azure Marketplace, an online applications and services marketplace that connects startups and independent software vendors (ISVs) to enterprises around the world.

Expanding on the existing portfolio of applications and services, the Azure Marketplace now offers Microsoft Azure Certified and open-source community virtual machine images including SAP, Cloudera, DataStax, CommVault, Veeam, Trend Micro, and Core OS as well as virtual machine extensions including McAfee and Octopus Deploy. Within a single, unified platform, customers can easily search, purchase, and deploy a wide range of solutions with just a few clicks.

The Azure Marketplace helps bolster productivity and strengthens application development by being the first marketplace to provision multi-virtual machine clusters. This gives customers new deployment choices and scalable solutions for managing small and large workloads in the cloud. Additionally, partner solutions that achieve Microsoft Azure Certified status (i.e. solutions that are compatible with and run on Microsoft Azure) are integrated into the Azure platform. The end result is an enterprise-ready experience that streamlines software deployment, simplifies application management, and delivers a consistent user experience.

To help customers navigate the Azure Marketplace, partner solutions will be categorized by the following application and service type:

  • Virtual Machines
  • Application services
  • Azure Active Directory applications
  • Web applications
  • Data services

Pricing models for the Azure Marketplace include free, bring your own license (BYOL), and pay-as-you-go options (note: Azure infrastructure charges may apply to free and BYOL solutions). Customers are charged based on their consumption, meaning you can use as much as you need for as long as you need. All purchases are billed separately from Azure cloud services.

Visit the Azure Marketplace webpage to learn more. Current Azure customers can access the marketplace in the existing and preview management portals.
