Earlier this year Microsoft and SAP announced support for SAP NetWeaver application on Azure, specifically SAP Business Suite and SAP HANA (Developer Edition) – detail here. Up until now you could only run SAP applications on A5 VMs. This limitation effectively restricted the usage to small SAP systems only. I am excited to announce that as of today Microsoft, and SAP will support a larger and increased set of Azure virtual machine sizes in our standard Tier (including our high memory and high compute sizes).
The offer for a larger variety of Azure virtual machines is expected to provide our SAP users the flexibility to run their workload in all the available VM sizes. Supporting the Azure Virtual machines out of the A-series and D-series VM, will allow customers to find the right solutions for their SAP systems running on Azure.
The table below shows the full list of standard tier VM sizes we support along with the benchmark results we have now published for some of these sizes on http://www.sap.com/benchmark.
