Azure Redis Cache Monitoring changes

The Azure Redis Cache service has deployed a new monitoring system, and we’ll be turning off the old system on March 15, 2015. We recommend you take steps to ensure you continue to receive monitoring data as expected.

What are the changes?

This new monitoring system gives you the capability to store monitoring and diagnostics data for your cache in your own Azure Storage account, which means that you can now use the tools of your choice to access this data. To ensure you continue to receive monitoring and diagnostics data for your cache and alert rules, we recommend that you configure an Azure Storage account where all the monitoring and diagnostics data will be stored.

How do I know if I am affected?

If you have not configured a storage account for Diagnostics to store monitoring data for your cache, then you will be impacted by this change and must take the action item below.

Action Item before 3/15/2015?

To continue to receive monitoring data and have existing alert rules work for your Cache, enable diagnostics using a Storage Account as shown in the “Enable cache diagnostics” section in Monitor Azure Redis Cache article.

If you are unable to enable diagnostics using a storage account by 3/15/2015, you will no longer receive any monitoring data and your alert rules will stop working until you enable diagnostics as mentioned above.
