The 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada was a rousing success for the United States as the team defeated Japan with a 5-2 rout. Bing Predicts completed the knockout rounds with 75 percent accuracy, notably picking England to beat both host Canada as well as Norway in the first two rounds and US over Japan in the final. In the preliminary rounds, Bing Predicts correctly projected all six group winners and got 58 percent of the win, loss or tie outcomes exactly right.
On the other side of the pond, Predicts correctly picked both men’s and women’s Wimbledon champions from the beginning, as Serena completed her “Serena Slam.” Novak Djokovic completed a strong run through the men’s bracket, winning the final against Roger Federer whom Bing placed into the finals in our preliminary bracket as well. In total, our predictions for each of the men’s and women’s Wimbledon matches had an average accuracy of 71 percent.
Jumping channels, the English Channel to be precise, to France, you can see that Bing Predicts is projecting winners for each of the four categories in the Tour de France, including the all-important General Classification (yellow jersey) where we currently predict Chris Froome of Team Sky to win. Back in the US, Bing has been predicting the NASCAR top five each week, beating Vegas odds in terms of accuracy. In June, we made our second-annual NBA Draft predictions and correctly called the full group of lottery—the first 14 picks.
It’s been a fun summer for Predicts so far. We’re hard at work on our fall Predicts lineup and excited to bring you more insights and upsets in the coming months.
