In the last couple of weeks we have seen a lot of voting in user voice for the ability to rename/change your TFS Account name in the TFS Service Preview (e.g. XYZ.TfsPreview.com).
At this time there is no self-service method for changing your TFPS account name. In order to change your account NAME today we must delete* your account so you can use your Microsoft Account (formerly “Windows Live ID”) to create a new one with the name you want. This is necessary because users are currently limited to one TFSP account per Microsoft Account. Please mail tfspreviewsupport@microsoft.com with your request. Please be sure to mail us from the Microsoft Account used to create your TFSP account. Only requests received from the account owner will be honored.
As an alternative, create a new Live ID and use it to create a new TFSP account with the name you desire.
*TFSP account deletion is a permanent action. Everything in the account will be lost and unrecoverable
Adding an Account Owner
You can do this yourself:
- Log into your site using the current account owner Live ID and switch to Control Panel.
- If the new owner’s Live ID is not already a member of the Project Collection Admins group, add it (via the “Manage collection security and group membership” link).
- Return to top-level of Control Panel and then click the SETTINGS tab (pictured below), where you will see an Account Owner drop-down. Change the owner there and click save.
