We redesigned the Team Explorer window in TFS 2012. Previously, it was simple tree control with limited flexibility. In 2012, we made it richer page navigation system that enables much more control over data presentation. We’ve also received a bunch of feedback on things people don’t like about the redesign (like the presentation of pending changes). We’ve got some improvements based on that feedback in the works but I’m not ready to talk about that yet. This post is about a sample for how you can extend Team Explorer and take advantage of some of the new richness.
Chad, the main developer of the new Team Explorer plumbing recently posted a sample on Code Gallery that shows how to add a page, a section to an existing page or a navigation link. Check it out and let us know if it helps.
