The Microsoft Office Content Publishing group has published more than 125 code samples for apps for Office and SharePoint, and new samples are added regularly. The code samples are now available as two sample packs to make it easier for you to download and use the materials. The team also wants to ask you: what can they do to make the samples more useful?

Developers want code samples!

This is what we heard over and over, at different events, every time we asked, “What type of content would you like us to produce?” During SharePoint Conference, and at MVP events, your answer was, “Code samples.” Our partners also told us, “Code samples.”

The content publishing team listened. In response to your feedback, we have been adding lots of code samples for apps for Office and apps for SharePoint to Code Gallery. During the past few months, we have created samples that show you how to:

  • Create your first app
  • Persist custom settings
  • Work with client identity tokens
  • Authenticate your app
  • Insert content from online services
  • Use VoIP dialing
  • Visualize data in Office clients
  • Enable offline apps
  • Handle errors
  • Access data
  • Store data
  • Overcome cross-domain scenarios
  • Customize the UX
  • Use workflows
  • Handle events
  • A lot more…

There are currently more than 125 code samples for apps for Office and SharePoint on Code Gallery.

New sample packs for apps for Office and SharePoint

To make it easier for you to download and use the samples, we have organized the samples into two packages:

We hope these sample packs make it easier for you to download and use the samples and find the right piece of code for your apps.

What else can we do?

We know that as you learn about the new app model, your needs for code samples might change. As you explore new scenarios, you might need a little help with building that last tricky piece you need to complete your app. We want to know what is preventing you from getting your app done. To help you, we’re using this opportunity to ask you:

  • Have the samples been useful to you so far?
  • Is there anything preventing you from using the samples?
  • What new samples do you need?

We’re more than happy to listen to you. We are ready to get our hands dirty and provide the samples you might need for your projects.
